Suffering from an ankle injury that halted my training and competition schedule was frustrating at the best of times- especially when the rest of my body was perfectly fine! For me, the underwater treadmill was the best alternative of cross-training as, despite being in rehab, I could essentially complete normal track training sessions, pain free. It improved my cardiovascular fitness whilst also maintaining my running mechanics and motor patterns, which helped my transition back to sprinting to be relatively seamless. If anyone is looking to advance their rehab programme or improve their training, then I would highly recommend using the underwater treadmill.
